Yucks and Yays of Upheaval Part 2 of 2

Written by on April 7, 2016

And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new” (Revelation 21:5).

(See Part 1 here. ) With a recent kitchen remodel, I inventoried yucks and yays along the way. Here are a few more:

Yuck:   Wince. When I turned a stove burner on “high” beneath an empty glass lasagna pan and left the room, the pan exploded, showering the kitchen with thousands of shards that  seared the floor and left permanent telltale scars. We were definitely due for a new floor.

Yay:   We selected new flooring. The night before the installers came, I looked over the floor and shook my head at the crime scene. (I’m a huge Hercule Poirot fan!)  Emily lay down and I traced her chalk outline on the kitchen floor. Actually, it was a Sharpie marker outline.

Yuck:  The floor has never been so beat up.
Yay: Since we’re getting new flooring put in on top of the old, here’s my chance to scribble all over with this verse for Jesus:

METADATA-START

Yuck:  We took 4 hours to move objects downstairs, so upstairs could get a fresh coat of paint. (Pictured: John Avery of Eagle Eye Property Services, my great friend who wrote The Name Quest.)

Yay:  While boxing up food, blankets, calendars, wall hangings, and much more, we inventoried stuff, cleared out clutter, and only put back a fraction. Ah, blank spaces!

Yuck: It’s taking me for-ever to calm down after having my space invaded with loud machinery, refinishing fumes, and the constancy of handymen underfoot.

Yay:  Time has gone by. I’ve regrouped. I’m happy with my new cupboards, oven range, microwave, and refinished cupboards. New floors. A fresh coat of paint on the walls. And waves of gratitude.

Jeff Edmonson of 24/7 Properties, gifted us with the new floor. Right back atcha, Jeff!  My parents, John and Maryann, provided the funds for the rest of the remodel. Wow! Thank you!

Was it worth it?  Yes! Thank you, Lord!

Friend, what yuck deconstruct are you going through? Where do you find the yay?

Yea! My book, It Takes More Than Legs to Stand, is available on Amazon! Yuck. Now that is out I’m wondering Now What. There’s plenty of stuff I should do (like blog) but I don’t want to. Yeah the weather is gorgeous!
