Blankify. Simplify. Listen.

Long Hollow Ranch

“Come with Me to a quiet place and get some rest” (Jesus, in Mark 6:31).

When we get on overload, what’s the best response we can make to pressing demands? How do we sort out and manage our time? Here’s a tip.

I’ve been irritable and weepy in the wake of further remodeling in our house, and poor time management has kept me scrambling. This week we had interior painting done in most rooms on the main level of the house, and shuffled dozens of items off walls and from one room to the other. It’s gorgeous, but the paint fumes were nasty. It was rainy, and I was bluesy.

When I get like that, it’s super-important to slow things down and connect with the Holy Spirit to gain His perspective. But with heaps of work, ongoing ministry commitments, and a sick husband, I’ve been worn down.

I spoke with Jesus about it. He invited me to spend a week alone with Him. So I’m headed to Long Hollow Ranch in Sisters, Oregon next week, where we’re going to spend a few days getting to know each other better. No. Wait. I think He knows me somewhat already. Ok, so maybe I’m going to get to know Him.

Clear skies. Blank calendar pages. Long hikes with Elohim. Ahhh. A recipe for fresh Christ encounters. And here’s the God-thing: the owners are allowing me to stay there as their guest at no charge. I plan to finish up my manuscript about self-forgiveness while I’m there.

I invite you to devote a special time for communion with the Holy Spirit in the next week. Take a few steps back from the flow of life. Like I’m doing, ask Him which commitments to keep, and which to release. Blankify your schedule and take a much-deserved break. See what He reveals in the process.

What shifts occur when we take extended time alone with the Holy  Spirit?

Imagine the possibilities,
Lynn

I have to think creatively when it comes to getting that much needed quiet communion time with the Holy Spirit, as three little people need me constantly! But I do find there are moments throughout the day where He is speaking, if I just slow down and go into that quiet place in my spirit, despite what is happening around me in any given moment. I can still encounter His peace and His goodness.
Blessings to you dear friend, from Victoria

Hello Victoria, thank you for reminding me of the constancy of meeting the needs of 3 little people. I love what you said about going into a quiet place and quieting your soul as you dip your feet into the pool of his presence. Nice!
