When the needle on the stress-o-meter goes haywire, how do you recalibrate your trajectory? When you need to forgive yourself, but feel stuck in the past, how do you move forward?
I recently I found myself contending with doubt, fear, and discouragement. I felt agitated and needed help in the stagnant reeds of skepticism and doubt.
I asked Co-Co how to break out of the cycle I was in. He showed me 3 simple things I could do to get back in His flow.
Here are 3 Co-Co steps to recalibrate and reframe your journey:
Look for ways God’s speaking to you. A love song playing overhead in a store. A soft breeze lifting your hair and kissing your neck. The smile of a small child. The sun breaking through the cloud cover. Hearing a Bible verse from two or three sources (don’t you love it when that happens?). Go on a God Hunt for ways He’s saying, “I love you!”
Guard your alone time with Jesus. He’s jealous for you, His first love. Do you make prime time for Him? Carve out Jesus time and stick with it. Stick with Him.
Take a forgiveness break. God’s forgiveness wipes the white board clean.
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord (Acts 3:19). When we focus on Christ’s redemptive act on the cross, and repent for acting at cross purposes to His, Christ separates our transgressions from us as far as the east from the west. And that includes forgiving ourselves for making poor decisions and hurting ourselves and others.
We say, “Jesus, I can’t see that sin anymore.”
He says, “Neither can I.”
Psalm 32:8 says, “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” God promises to instruct, teach, and counsel us. When we actively reach out for that counsel, that forward-thinking growth, He meets us there. Every time.
In that space, we can accept and forgive ourselves and make forward strides, because we know that His love and forgiveness also precedes any mistake we can or will make in the future.
